Separate IC from different grades

I have snapped open a few IC chips from CRTs and don't see any gold in them. Now I won't lie I have not broken any from high grade boards as of yet. I was just wondering if you keep your low grade stuff separate from your high grade? I am not talking boards just the different chips. If you do what parts do you keep apart.

I don't, personally. Part of the reason being I don't have the room to store all the different grades, etc. The other reason being it is more time to separate. General rule of thumb- more time, less profit. More space used, less profit. That's how I operate. "How do I separate the usual good stuff the fastest, while churning out material just as fast?" That's how I role. Just my 2 cents.

According to Ebay sold listings, low grade IC chips are $7 /lb right now ...
The issue is - not all ICs have gold in them, most of the common ones only have a few milligrams of gold tracing.

If you're doing it to assay or for your refining maybe it's useful. The IC chips from different generations of RAM, for example, have different recovery rates. But if you're shipping to a buyer and don't have very large quantities it's probably not worth the time
