Cisco Catalyst 4507R+E complete units w/ ws-x4548-gb-rj45v 48 ethernet port modules.

Hey everyone, new to scrapping and found a source for all sorts of big Corp. E-waste such as these cisco catalyst and more. I want to maximize my profits obviously but not sure if they are worth trying to resell or breakdown.
Not a computer wiz by any means but the price range for these online varies drastically and therefore I'm not sure where to go with this. I cant tell what condition they are in, if they work or not, or how old they are, but they were free so...

I have 4 cisco 4507R+E units and 2 4510R+E units with all the modules for each unit.

P.s. wont let me attach pics file size to large. Will try to post pics soon.

The price does seem to fluctuate widley. They are probably hard to sell. You have no way to test them I am assuming... With all that being said I would disassemble and scrap them. Check out the e-waste section on here on identifying parts of it so you know how to separate them.

Or if you dont want to mess with taking them apart and such, the buyer I have used for E-waste is currently paying $0.39/lb for Networking equipment. Internet says they weight 44.53 lbs each, you have 6, so that would be about $267.18 they are worth if you can find a local buyer at a similar price. Shipping them probably would eat too much into your profits and wouldnt really make sense. Parting them out and selling or scrapping parts would probably yeild more but may not be worth the effort.

If it were me and I had those, I would probably take them apart, take out anything of value (circuit boards, chips, motors, wires, ports, etc) so I could sell them to an E-waste buyer on here. And then probably drive the shells and rest of the bits that arent valuable as light-iron/shred to a local place

It looks like the price variation is dependent on having the modules and power units with is. Anywhere from $300 average for the shell and as high as 10-15k I'm sure power units, modules, etc. Differ which im assuming is why the price fluctuates but either way still no way to test them.

PartTimeScrapper, I'll send you the WS numbers in your PMS.

Thanks for the help guys, always appreciated.

Value on these really comes from what cards are in them. I have better luck piecing these out if they have cards that are worth it. This is why I started my more then scrap buying here on the forum. I will look it all up and give you more then scrap value for it then I take all the risk from there. Let me know if my service can be of help to you.

Thanks Terry, I'll be sure to check out your other thread and get back to you if need be. I'll be sending the info to PTS first, he inquired first. I'll be honest though if you guys plan on taking them just to scrap I think I'd rather learn how to do it myself, that's the fun part anyways.
