Server and I.T.

Of those of you that purchase material, I am looking for what you generally pay per pound for scrap server and IT stuff. I have been so busy as of late, that I haven't been able to do any profit margin analysis. My board buyers pricing hasn't changed, but the regular scrap market has. Fuel costs are up. I just picked up 2200lb. @ $0.49/lb. That's what I was paying a year ago, so I just stayed with it. I have found with the server stuff, even if they are outdated and scrap only I can usually find some desirable modules inside that command a B.T.S. value. Is this a good price in your market? Thanks for any insight.

Too high in my opinion. That is unless you are getting enough EWaste to get into dealer pricing or sending over 25,000 pounds at a time to a refiner.

Here in Vegas I pay up to .60 for servers and .90 for switches, depending on quantity, usually closer to .50 and .75. Usually get them for less from businesses, surprisingly often for free, and sometimes get paid to take them.

0.49/lb sounds high to me. I would not pay that price, unless from a known supplier where I would be certain that the load contains better than scrap value items. For any random scrap server or telecom lot I would pay maybe 0.25-0.30 per lb, which is competitive in my local market. And I agree, often I get lots like that for free.
