you could try asking at your local grocery store during summer/fall. watermelons, pumpkins, and some other things come in large pallet sized bins. some store return them, and some crush them. they are a pain to fit into a baler and fill a bale fairly quickly, which can be annoying. probably will need to get the pallets somewhere else, but they are usually easy tro find for free in small numbers
