I mean, I know the general size of one from working in the produce dept of our local grocery store, back in highschool. With E-scrap, about how many pounds does someone need to start talking different pricing?
I've got a bit over 100 pounds of motherboards alone, and I really can't visualize how much of a gaylord it would fill....

Never filled one myself but from what I've seen on the forum they should hold from 600-800 pounds of mother boards depending how well you pack them.

bigger boards (mother boards) randomly thrown in approx 500. Neatly stacked maybe 600. smaller boards approx 700 pounds. Gaylord boxes can and will vary in width and heigth as well. Before you fill your gaylord weigh it first for a tare weight.

Do you guys get the plastic ones over there too? we have them here (washable and re-usable) for fruits and vegetables etc..

Don't know...but what I do use are the big tanks that are on pallets...cut the top off and you have a metal caged gaylord.

It wasn't till I came to this site that I'd ever heard of a 'Gaylord'.
In NewZealand we call it a 'Fadge' (pallet sized plastic sack)
So I looked up 'Fadge' & found out its probably as weird to yous guys as 'Gaylord' is to us.....

Gaylord, a fadge, box on pallet or space craft.....its a big pox thats on a pallet that you put stuff inside it so you can ship it and or move it around using a pallet jack/forklift.
and...damm you mechanic...now you have me thinking of fudge...now I have to go get me a hot fudge ice cream and its a 30mins drive into town and 30min drive back....reading this forum can be dangerous at times in a few ways.

She is right tho, I saw some big gaylords at my buyers warehouse, filled a big pallet and 4 1/2' tall and in the picture those only look to be 3-3 1/2' tall and narrow. Could make a big difference in total weight between them.

I have thought about doing that, but the cheapest I have found around here is $100.
For the time being I have chest freezers on pallets to sort/move scrap.
What I really want are steel bins like the yards use, but I am not about to pay new price and can't find any used.

Find large pool companies...pest control companies will have them as well.

'Fadge' IS close to 'fudge'
But its not what you are thinking, definitely doesn't make me hungry thinking about it....
Try checking with your local moving companies for cardboard commercial bins as well. Same type of box (maybe just different measurements), and sometimes they will give you a bin discounted or free if they used it on a moving job.
