Worked fine for me too. Just bought one but from a different seller, thanks for the link.
That only works so good...you have to restart the computer 50% of the time to test a drive. Just because it does not show up on your screen does not mean its bad...restart and it may show up.
Check the drive for errors...you don't want someone to bring the drive back to you a week later because it does not work.
p.s for the ubuntu users in here...there is a GREAT hard drive disk testing program installed on your computer...it will tell you how many hours the hard drive has been on..and how many power cycles it has...along with a ton of other info.
Ubuntu?? is that like an operating system? Like windows or lepeord?

Right. You can google Ubuntu I am all so a team leader/owner. Its a great way to get into a system that you can help build onto even if you don't know how to program they will teach you all you need to know.
P.s check out my youtube page...it has alot of videos of Ubuntu.
Ubuntu is faster than windows..and there are very little viruses out that can kill it.
It worked for me now that I am on my computer...guess android didn't like it to much...that is alright, because I am switching back to blackberry till my provider fixes their androids...
So far I have checked like 8 drives all fired right up and passed chkdisk with flying colors.
Just had an idea man. Besides craigslist, ebay, etc, try contacting computer repair shops to see if they might have any interest. If not, in the particular ones that you have, ask them what is a "in demand" item that they are always having a need for it. If you can make a good deal with them, that is instant cash when you come across it, and no dealing with flaky CL people or BS ebay fees either.
I use this. http://www.amazon.com/Startech-Docki.../dp/B001IOPIRM
In my office we have the 4 drive version at our helpdesk.
This eliminates the needless switching of wires and such. Also supports laptop hard drives. This is a SATA model but they make the ATA model aswell.
As for ubuntu. You can also use windows as their are many programs out their. However the best solution i have found has been to download the ultimate boot CD http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
This comes with TONS of hard drive tools. It also reads the smart information on the drive and tells you every thing about it. The best thing is the PC you run it on doesn't need a hard drive. It all loads from a CD. So as long as you have something that powers and on can load a CD you are good. Oh and has working USB ports for the dock. LOL
unbuntu is linex based system. a diffrerent opertating system
Part Time that is a nice set up. A very reasonable priced setup to test hard drives.
