This is a good thread. Been thinking and reading/researching about doing the same thing. But not as refined, but you never know. Build a refractory, ball mill the pins, fingers and chips and then then cook up the whole mess and pour an ingot. Seems to me that you would keep more PMs that way. I couldn't agree more. There are very few componentes that worth direct chemical treatment, mixed board pins are not one of them. IMHO.
This furnace is for potters used for burning the caly works, though it is well suited in terms of temp', it's not very convenient to pull a hot & heavy crucible. Were it me, id'e look for a side door furnace for smelting.
