This uses Fipronil as the active poison ingredient. Pretty much anything with Fipronil will work pretty well to kill roaches. MaxForce gel also contains Fipronil and I've used it with pretty amazing results in the past to control greenhouse roach pests. Take a piece of thin PVC pipe, an inch or so wide, cut it in 8-12 inch lengths and squeeze the poison as far into the tube as you can. This reduces/eliminates the risk of accidental contact with people, pets or objects and the roachs like it since it is free food in a nice comfy enclosed space. We went from having an infestation to no detectable roaches in just a few weeks. It also came close to eradicating our large cricket population in the greenhouse as well.

I was an entomology major in college so many of my classes required an insect collection. Cockroaches are their own order of insects, so it was all but mandatory to have this representation in most of the collections I did.

Understandable. Some bugs are good, and others just nasty

Most species of roaches are actually pretty cool and really beneficial for nature... only a few species are pests to humans but those few give the entire group a bad reputation.

Nerdy insect plug you might enjoy: Here is a youtube video about a really cool species of wasp where the female stings cockroaches in the head and basically turns them into zombies which she can then lead back to her nest and lay eggs on.

So it saves my time and just the trips back and forth between homedepot and applying the posion are worth the $40.

Not to mention they use special equipment to keep my pets safe. Cant get that from a spray bottle.
I agree I did it myself for two years successfully until one day that freaken stereo had hundreds of not the German, but they look like them... Can't think of the name... Some kind of roach. Even though I kept the radio outside they ended up thriving in the yard and woods. Eventually 6 months later I saw one in my house, then saw them once a month... Then once a week... Then I saw one a day and called a guy. $30 a month.... I have not seen one bug in my house in months!!! Well maybe a mosquito or fly, but nothing is moving in!! LOL

Would you recommend that i try the gel myself first prior to paying the company? Prior to me getting on the payment once a month plan i need to pay the 250 for the initial treatment.

I would go to the store and buy two tubes and give it a week. For under $20 I doubt you can do better. I've used many different products and pest companies as well and this stuff is great. You will need to re-apply. Since I live in the south these bugs live outside and travel from yard to yard at night. We tend to get reinfested in the cold weather as the roaches head into the warmth of the house. I'm going to treat outside my house and see how it helps. Mike

To me it is sort of akin to paying someone to change the oil in your car... You can buy the oil yourself a lot cheaper, but if you'd rather not get your hands dirty then paying someone else to do it can be worth the extra cost.

Probably 75-90% of what they'll do is basic preventative stuff. Dropping a few roach stations around the place, putting a few sticky cards down to monitor for pests, and if you have mice putting a few mouse trap stations out. At this time of year I'd argue that almost anything they do outside your place for insects is basically pointless. Not many pests are going to be outside moving in (ever, really) and basically none this time of year with the cold weather. Mice could be a different issue, but you really aren't going to get those out of the blue from computers.

If it were me I'd buy $50 or so in different mice bait stations, a half dozen sticky cards and a couple tubes of MaxForce and do it myself.

Never met a scrapper that didn't mind getting his hands dirty. Especially changing his own oil.

Why would a wasp use a roach for a nesting ground? lol

Bugs? Someone mention Bugs? Next to Air Conditioning Pest Control is biggest money makers down here.

As our on board entomology major mentioned with the change in weather prevention is most important.
I try to use as little pesticides as possible. I find diatomaceous earth works very well in prevention and control of many pests and is safe around children and pets unless they are insects.

I seen a show called "Moonshiners" on the discovery channel where they used Listerine Mouthwash as a bug repellent. According to them moonshine fellers it works great.

Camping in a travel trailer sometimes we had problems with ants so we would run a ring of Ajax all the way around the trailer when setting up to keep them out.

That's why them fellers ain't got many tooth, they use all mouth product to keep the critters away.
That's why it's called a tooth brush not a teeth brush. Why tooth paste? Should it not be polish?

Diatomaceous earth does work well but last I knew was not legal to sell in NY state. Some obscure reason, I forget which. It can be a good bed bug control tool.
