Just bought all the escrap from one of my competitors

I responded to a local craigslist ad advertising escrap for sale. Long story short after getting some photos and discussing what he had I agreed to pay $150 for the lot. Got to talking to him and find out that this guy had been advertising to buy computers so that he could scrap all the copper, steel and aluminum out of them, and was ignoring the boards letting them pile up in his garage since he 'thought someone might want them'...

I got 60+ lbs of motherboards, 1+ pound of CPUs most of which are pre pentium 3s going back to 486s, 2 lbs slot processors, 1 pound RAM.

Not going to make a ton off it, but will definately make some money, and found it pretty funny that this guy has been advertising against me and now I end up buying the processed stuff from him on the cheap.

Not only did you get them on the cheap, but they were already separated! Good job.

Yeah he did all the hard work for me, though he ripped absolutely every little bit of metal off that he could including copper bits, and heat sinks on all the mother boards, and even some of the metal end pieces off the finger boards... oh well! He also had about 60 mixed hard drives, CD drives and floppy drives unbroken down he gave me. I'm happy.

Make sure you note that to your buyer. Since he pulled much of that stuff off. The boards might be only worth mid grade now

Actually I believe he increased the value per pound of the boards since he pulled all the 'junk' metals off them. The escrap buyers are paying $3 or $4/lb for those little aluminum heat sinks or copper donuts when attached to the boards, but we all know that they aren't worth nearly that much seperate by the pound.
