Thanks Auntie...I posted a pic on another thread entitled..."there's gold in these here dinasaurs"
just found my secound double gold top today. 2 in 3 days
I just came across someone that has a garage full of old ibm 486/386 and gateway 2000 pcs some are flat desktops and others full towers.
He is firm on $10 a piece.
What do you think the scrap value of these would be?
Would it be worth it to buy 100 of these for $1000?
this should be a new thread: that said what hes doing is selling you the chips and the mother board with out having to do the work himself. you will be left with profit from iron, floppy drives hard drives ram etc, I just finished a bunch of them. if they are all complete, its probably an ok deal, if they have been scavanged and ram or other parts removed its marginal. ram and hard drive boards are premium price but it takes a lot of them to make a LB.
copper , lead
olddude, congratulations on the gold tops....are they A80501
A8050 290
NYP you better figgure closer to $!5. the drop in gold a month ago has hit the e waste about $1 to $2.50 per Lb on every thing.
a while back I bought a 1 gal baggie of ram for $10 it looked and felt like 10 lbs it weighed 2.5 lbs. the thought and sight of gold does strange things to peoples judgment.

Maybe back in the summer, but not now. You could gamble on it (the price) going back up, if you feel lucky. Sometimes this is all a crapshoot.Do you think that $18 to $20 is about right for scrap value of entire 486 pc?
