Just a couple of tips I thought of - Page 2

I brought a box of ribbon wire to my wife to cut and she used the wire cutters for one and walked to the kitchen and grabbed the scissors. And grinding the wires from the power supplies is a good idea.

Yeppers, the grinder really does help in this situation. The scissors will help as well, much faster...I am going to try mechanic688 idea though with the heavy duty paper cutter. Might even be faster.

Power supplies go out in computers all the time. Most of my computer repair clients give me huge boxes at a time. People will buy cheap computers with crap power supplies in them and next thing they know it has to be replaced. You can usually tell a low grade power supply by the wire...It is thinner and there are fewer wires.

9 times out of 10 there is nothing wrong with the power supply. Its the fan in the power supply that goes out causing it to overheat and the computer shutting it down. I have open them up and replaced the fans more than once to get a PS working again.
