To get around a password protected mac, follow the instructions on here step-by-step:

This has worked for all Apple comps. I have tried it on. Basically, you trick the computer into thinking you just loaded new software and it lets you setup a new account. Once you create that account, you can clear teh pasword on the old accounts to make them accessable, or just delete them.
