Emac computers

I bought 18 emac computers on a govt auction site today what kind of recovery should I expect. Thanks for your replies

Well, I personally would not have bid on them not knowing what kind of recovery I would get. Unless you got them for crazy cheap.

Let us know what all is in one once you crack one open please.

Well for 33 dollars i can only assume that i can't go wrong.....Just the copper alone should bring $40-$50 considering they are monitor/computer combos For that kind of money it is worth a chance of making a few dollars in this economy is fine by me

are those the half moon looking motherboards?

I have not got into them yet i pick them up in the morning....I have done 1000's of monitors but never these emac machines I am actually looking forward to something different than the monotony of the regular crts

some of the apples have the power supply built on the board. i just cut that out and then throw it in with the other mb's. normally they are pretty decent boards.

you paid less than $2 each. you should be fine.

they can be a pain till you get the hang of tearing em down. think chinese puzzle. each piece interacts with the next. once you get them, look them up on the net. should be a diagram explaining the proper procedure to disassemble.

I do believe that these take about 5-10x the time of a regular computer to disassemble. I did one or two like 6 months ago, and they were a pain.

I got 12 of them a few weeks ago. I just dismantled my first one a couple nights ago. You get a 1 pound motherboard. Copper heatsink that I took off just because of the way its attached to the board to sell as copper. 1 40gb hard drive. I will be selling these on ebay for $10 each. 1 or 2 ram sticks depending on what they have installed. 1 cdrw drive, and 1 powersupply board. Plus the usualy stuff from a monitor.(yoke and deguase cable and monitor circuit board) they arnt to bad to take apart. It took me about 10 mins to do the first one. Now that I know how to take them apart im sure the next ones will be alot easier. I paid $5 each for them because I baught them as towers from my regualr scrapper guy that I buy computers from. Ill make money back plus just from the hard drive sale on ebay so reast will be pure profit. Also some of the brackets in the machine are aluminum so check them all with a magnet.

The boards are not huge in these machines but they will pay off in the end having that many of them. Just the scrap value alone (copper, alum) will do that. But just like everyone else said, they are a major pain in the rump to dismantle.

Thats just in the last 60 days. I wish I had more to sell. Those prices are what I sold them for I pay for shipping. Usualy $5 in a padded flat rate envelope. Then take off 15% for fees. So on a 10 dollar sale it comes out to $3.50 profit on average. The average hard drive weighs about 1.25 lbs so thats more than double scrap value. Very nice price. You have the advantage of having several to dismantle. That means that by the third one, you should be able to tear them down pretty fast.

old thread, but i just finished breaking down 20 of these i got from a business that was closing down. All had the hard drives, 2 sticks of memory and everyhting else. No detachable CPU, appears it is attached to the motherboard. Each had 1/2lb copper degausing wire around the monitor. Each heat sink had a solid copper piece attached to it. Once I got the hang of dismantling(i actually used a Utube video showing how to dismantle initially), they were pretty cool to do, at least different. Also received all of the apple key boards. They are very heavy and come in different colors. Need to research these as from the 1990's per the label on the back. Finally received all the office phones for the business. All in all a nice pick up.

Yeah I just picked them up and now it is time to get to work....I usually don't fool with ebay but I think I will probably just scrap the components....I know I might receive some grief for this but to me it is not worth the time or effort to wait on my money and having to deal with shipping and I have heard some bad things about pay-pal.....I prefer cold hard cash and quick turnover of my product...I appreciate all the responses now instead of typing I need to get to work

I see these on CL all the time but was sure if they were worth what they were asking
