    Gold Plated Circuit Board?

Im not a big E-Waste guy, I mainly deal with shred. When I come accross items that need to be broke down further to get aluminum, brass, copper or stainless out I will put them in a pile. When I get bored I will go thru the pile and break the items down. Today was one of those days.

I was breaking down an item and saw a circuit board in it and thought "another low grade board" but when I got it out it looks to have a lot of gold on it.

The front is nice enough, but check out the back.

I am thinking it is gold because the item that it was taken out of spends its entire life outside in the elements and gold will not tarnish or corrode. I could be wrong but that is my way of thinking.

    What do you think?

So I was curious if the first one was a fluke or if other makers have the same kind of board, well looks like they all have the same kind of board.

I have some reservations disclosing where these are coming out of because these items are everywhere and it would be very easy for the "scrap thieves" to have a field day. I know that most of the active members on this forum aren't thieves, but we have lurkers and general public that come here looking for the quick buck and don't care who they hurt getting it.

Might just be my monitor, but the colour looks more like copper than gold to me.

That's like saying "I know where there's a ton of money laying around!... But I'm not telling you" I'm personally dying from curiosity and would love to know where they came from. I wouldn't worry about someone stealing them

Not sure if garage door key pads have much in them. Tore apart one once. Had a green board and a few wires.

The one I am talking about you see them on hotel doors, homes, etc.

Between this and the power poles I'm sure you'll be in stripes by noon.

haha. CMHN said it's in an item that is outside for the duration of its life.

I am still curious. Wonder if he would post to the scrap room?

Not going to reply to the above with a quote cuz you shouldn't have to look at that again...

If people keep posting photos like this, pics of Daisy and Bret are going to have to become a sticky so we can get the sting out of the eyeballs as needed.
