If it is the kind of motherboard that slides into place and then sort of locks, I learned a trick that saved me a lot of time. Where the motherboard and the case met, where the USB outlets, montior plugs etc were on the outside of the case is where the hangup was much of the time. Make sure there are no hex screws holding the motherboard to the case there (check by the monitor connector), and if not you can bend the metal at the end of the motherboard and break that bond of the case and motherboard. Often this was enough to make it slide out freely. Good luck.
