Welcome... Thank you for asking a original question that I have not seen covered here yet.....
I agree that it might not be worth seperating items from the circuit board, unless you are planning on using the components... there are exceptions tho.. if aluminum or copper heat sinks on there, then you would get more for those individual parts... the same can be said for transformers that are soldered to the board...
I am NOT an expert when it comes to electronics as I get hosed on pricing where I am... I only get 15 cents per pound for boards and I have no options in British Columbia to do better... I lost a ton of money when I did a bunch of NORTEL comunication moduals.. lots of the boards had the entire circuit path on the boards in gold, instead of copper... I still have about a half dozen of the moduals kicking around and I should post a pic one day.
when it comes right down to it, it seems no one in our group has tried to strip down boards or "media blast" the copper or gold off.... if you are willing, give it a try and let us know how it works out.

very interesting idea, wow. seperation would be a no brainer. and baking soda is way cheeper then fine blasting media. dam it now I need a sand blaster.sombody try this please.

Unless you have a personal use for the components you are wasting your valuable time. You make money in this business on volume. Put your efforts into sourcing more material, not the little stuff.
