question for computerscrapper, on your gold pin bearing wire ends (such as printer cables and such). Do you give a better price for just the pins? Before I talked to any of the buyers, I had been pulling the cable ends apart and pulling the pins out, so I have a bunch of them. Just curious if I should keep this up, or if it would be a waste of my time. Thanks for all the help, my pile is slowly growing, and I'll be sending some stuff your way soon.

You can get a better price for the bare pins but it takes a lot of them to add up to a pound. The price depends on the quality of the pins themselves. Some are more heavily plated while others are less. If you have questions on the pricing feel free to shoot me some pics and I will quote them out for you.

You might get a little more per lb, but your taking weight away by taking them apart. Good question tho. The only people I know that takes the time to pull pins usually process them (refining)

mech, here was my thought process. First, I know I'm taking a way weight, and it's more work. the work is irrelevent to me as this is part time. Ok, lets say your getting a $1.60 per lb for gold bearing ends, and it costs a $1 per lb to ship. that's a .60 profit. My yard is 15 miles away and gives $1 per lb for insul wire, with the ends on or cut off. So, if there isn't a better price for bare pins, then I'm better off selling them as insul. wire. Gas doesn't come into play as I'm already driving to the yard regardless, and the 10 lbs of cable ends arent going to matter on MPG's. Just trying to find the most logical thing to do is all.

Computerscrapper, been quite busy since this thread started. will try to get some pics, but the only camera i have is on my phone, so not sure how detailed it will be.

My thought on this would be to pack a flat rate box (USPS) just as full as you possibly can of ends and ship them to one of the better paying buyers. Gold Connectors $2.00/lb from a buyer right here on the board.
