ADVICE ON PRICE!! AND MORE ????'s

I am just getting this bug to start a business e-cycling. Nothing close but I am in a smaller town of 50000 College Cow Town in Oklahoma. My first question I have is how much should I charge if anything to business' to pick up there items? As I have talked to one big Corporation and the school district and they both pay for someone to come from out of town to pick up there items.

Question 2: Should I offer degaussing for my business?
Question 3: For the experieced, Can this business support my family if done full time?
Question 4: Is there any buyers/refiners around Oklahoma that will provide me with the highest profit? Have talked to some but looking for the greatest.

Ill do my best to answer these ?'s

    1. I wouldnt charge then if they are giving you the stuff for free. I think most of those big businesses charge because they have to to pay thier overhead.
    2. If you do and your willing to take on the risk of data theft then get insurance to cover said risk. I think LLC is best insurance there is.
    3. Can mowing lawns for a living support your family? Im sure it can its all in what you put into it.
    4. Cant help you for buyers in OK but I know easyrecycles is close in North DFW area.

    Hope that helps.

This is just my personal opinion but Free is always better, but if it takes paying some to get the long term business then so be it, but emphasize the service you are offering them. Only pay (if you have to) for the computers and remove the other stuff free with the computers. No more than $5.00 per 'puter to still come out ok; some start at $2.
For the experieced, Can this business support my family if done full time
Yes but probably not right in the beginning, it'll take some time to have a sufficient quantity coming in of a full time basis, kind of like a route, and that takes time to network. Going to take more time for you to learn how to properly break down everything you might come across Escrap wise, it's all here, just takes awhile to read about it all.

Your best option in Okla. would be to check out our buyers section and probably contact Easy as being the closest buyer to you, but all of our buyers come with good reviews. Here'ssssss Easy ; http://www.scrapmetalforum.com/showt...uying-E-waste. And here's the rest of the buyers. http://www.scrapmetalforum.com/forum...rs-amp-Sellers

I have talked to Easy and they seem real nice and most likely who I will contact in the future. Just didn't hurt if there was more resources.

The reason why I asked about the degaussing is, if the bigger companies, wanted some kind of data security I could provide them with that.
I think I have been interested and reading about this since October.
I have been writing a business plan, and my hardest part is figuring out how to write my financial statements for profit/loss, break even, and more. And with this type of business newer to me and area I have no resources to get even a hint of what to expect the first year or beyond so I can finish my BP and present it. But I do have just about everything else written out.

To start, just print you up some nice business cards and start networking with people you know now. Family and friends are the best place to start, they know you and hopefully will help talk you up.

If you need to upload an image (pic) just get you a Photobucket account and upload your photo's to there, then you copy then paste it here using the lil window icon.

I have helped a friend of mine a few times. He works for a huge corporation that deal solely in corporate clients. The few times I have helped him, we have picked up PALLETS of pc's. monitors, keyboards, and other misc things.

He has a portable laptop and scan gun, and has to scan each item into inventory. From there, he provides the client with everything he has picked up.

From there, he transports them to a local satellite warehouse (I believe it is called onesource), and then the corporate office sends a truck to the warehouse to pick up what he dropped off. Then it gets sent to another facility for whatever they do with it.

Grand this is a BIG operation.

If you are going to charge companies to pick up their items, I would charge for data destruction and provide them with a C.O.D certificate upon completion.

You can also charge them for the processing of the monitors too if you like. There is a few members here (sorry, can't remember screen names), that charge a certain amount per monitor, because they have to pay to get rid of them, themselves.

Well im the odd ball out i suppose, i pay for crts monitor/tvs to be delivered to my garage drop off and with the rest of the escrap. Most escrap around here isnt going for free very often and i have to call clients to make sure my prices haven't been over bid. its getting a bit nuts.

Paying for PCs is one thing, but I would be very careful in paying for monitors and tvs. Not much profit in them as is.

The site looks good, I love the colors and the contact page. Just a few thoughts.

    1) Your logo is a little too “bling” for me. It doesn’t come off as professional.
    2) You also state that your company started in 2012 but is “setting the standard for data destruction”. Comes off as little over the top. I would wither remove the establishment date or change the message

George it works out nicely im saving the money in gas and at 2$ a piece I make enough on top. having a low grade board buyer at .19 cents a lb helps a lot too. rest is copper and insulation 3. averaging about 4.50 a tv, 5$ on most computer monitors.

Plus it make the local scrappers come around more often meaning i get the 1 or 2 computers they got in the truck, normally they wont stop by for 5-10 bucks, but you throw in 10 tvs on top of that hey now they got a reason to stop by.

Ill look at it as cheap advertisement cause im the only doing it for cash and can pay better then most my competition around here, and there is more of it everyday.

Weather on your home page should be changed to whether. Unfortunately, the spell checker would not pick this up.
The site does look nice though.

ABSOLUTELY. The very first word! Call me a grammar Nazi, but my very first impression was

Also, maybe look for a new wallpaper. The site looks like it is crammed into a tiny box, with a vast emptiness surrounding it.
