first flat screen from the trash

Was out and about and saw a vacuum cleaner and pulled over. I don't want the vacuum, but I always cut the cord. This one was a full pound. Anyway, there was a flat screen monitor laying face down that I did not see until I got out.

First one. I think, cool, I can open it up and replace the bad capacitors and sell it. I get home and find a cord for it. I plug it in and it freaking works. How about that?

had the same thing happen awhile back but the main board went out been needing to get it fixed already. im no good fixing tvs. My neighbor scrapper throws out his Vacuums as well, and i always make a bee line to his trash and get some quick goodies. Is my yard just that nuts for taking whole vacuums for light steel?

I use to just cut them cords. Ive found its better to take the whole thing and get the motor out. Take the vacuum bag out if you can before you take it.

Yards by me take vacuums as shred ($.12/per pound) because of the motors and internal wiring. Worth more then just the cord any day.

thats screwing the yard over me personally i take the motor out and toss the vacuum in the garbage. its not much money for the wire and motor but its not much work either maybe 3 or 4 mins.

Take the motor. Just turned over 100 lbs mostly vac motors just from roadside pick ups. Some guys take axes to them at the yard throw the carcass in the shred and take the motor. I zip em apart with a drill at home.

I spent a lot of time cleaning the garage yesterday. I did not want to start a new mess right off the bat. I have rescued many from the roadside, broke them down and put the platic in my recycle bin. I like to see the plastic get recycled as well.

Keep in mind guys vacuums most of the time just need a belt or be unclogged. Fix an resell can be more $$ then scrap value. bagless are easy sellers. Also be carefull of bugs you don't wanna bring lice or bedbugs in.

I should have remembered about heating up and then cutting out. It is good to go. No problems at all with this unit. I had it on a good long time today.

Agreed Motorhead. Generally nasty equipment. I NEVER bring ANY scrap into my home. I cut the cord. Unscrew the compartment where the motor is, and call it done. I passed on many vacs. There are just to many set out to pass on.
