i i always pull socketed ics from all of the boards, i dont take the time to remove them from low grade but will look into it

I just don't get it really. Most boards are in the $4 a pound range, and I'm thinking these chips are in the $5lb range. Why would you bother pulling so many chips for $1lb?

On another note, the window chips, are the ones that don't show gold still only in the $5lb grade ?

regular ics are going for $10 per pound, silver window ics $30 per pound, gold ics $70 per pound source:ebay completed listings

I have just the eproms no board, my are all silver, I need to weigh them
Are their other sources than ebay for them

Bear, if you read the other post, only take the chips off of low grade (brown) boards. Leave the ic chips on any other board unless your buyer says it's ok to take them off. jghilino, If you can get 10.00# for scrap ic chips, I have about 8# that I will sell you for 7.00#. Send me a pm with contact info. and I'll also pay the shipping.

If you are planning on harvesting for resale vs scrap, a cheap IC puller can help remove it with less chance of damage. Of course this only works with socket chips, not soldered.

Slick look'n specialty tool there bud. I use a thin, long, flat blade screwdriver like some of the other peeps mentioned. Works great for us little guys on a real tight budget.

I have been saving them up, most are gold & the odd one is silver.
Check out the 'light bar'too, its got a row of LED's & sometimes bare gold wires, or gold wires under soft silicon..

Video cameras have a different version of them, square & with gold too. like this

Yeah, one of those 'lightbars' has 250 peices of gold wire & each ones about 2-3mm long. (i'm gonna double check that, 250 seems like a lot, but its what I remember the amount being)

Some of the lightbars (i gotta find the real name of that item too) are ceramic & some have about 1 square inch of gold plating alongside the LED's.
