Got an odd call about something

I had a guy call me about some outdated business phones. The kind with LCD screens in them tons of buttons on it and the keypad. Apparently he has boxes and boxes of them and wants them gone. I searched the whole electronics forum but couldn't find anything about them. My question is do they even have boards in them and if so what would be the value per lb. Usually my questions are easily answered by the search forum or google no such luck this time.

I took down 60 phones, they ended up getting graded at #3 Motherboard I think. Took my old man about 2 hours to break down all 6 phones and made about $100 or more....

Take the green board with the black (graphite) color circuitry in the bottom picture and scratch it with a knife or flathead screwdriver where the buttons used to make contact. Most of the time it’s just copper but sometimes they are gold.

I have taken apart 100"s of phones from what I can tell the older ones have no boards but any made after about 1975 or 80 have boards. Some have low grade some a higher grade. Arcoa.com buys affice and home phones for .27 lb. I don"t know if this is a good price or not. Like Mikeinreco said go get'em. Tellephones are always wirth somathing.

Just to add my $0.02 on this. Those old style lcd displays sometimes have gold hiding in them. I'll try and make a thread later with some pics for you guys, it's not obvious. If I forget (and I will), some one please pm me to remind me.

its been hit or miss with those desk style phones for me. Some of them have had some pretty nice looking board in them, and others have been little better than brown or mid grade. I will scrap anything, though, so i would take them if they're in large supply. cant really lose unless you burn a ton of gas picking them up
