    Advice/Help wanted on these items...

    Ok, second attempt.

Here's what I have several of:

    http://www.invalidnormalarray.com/files/top.jpg
    http://www.invalidnormalarray.com/files/bottom.jpg

It's a CPU board from a Silicon Graphics Origin 3800 supercomputer. It's 7x8" in size and weighs .75 pounds.

In addition to the gold pins and contacts, it also has two of these on it:

    http://www.invalidnormalarray.com/files/square.jpg

Does anyone know what it would be worth? It weighs more than RAM, but less than a motherboard, and has more gold than both. I've done a lot of searching but I really can't pinpoint any kind of gold scrap value, and I've got more where this came from.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Here's an Ebay Computers search for SGI Origin 3000 http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...0&_sacat=58058 One guy asking $595 for a power supply to one of em if you click on the left under "Show Only" > completed listings, it doesn't show a lot

Well, i looked at rbrooks link and got the 3000, then after i did that search and looked at yours I see you said 3800, then I tried with the 3800, only one listing, a whole one the guy's asking $6000

Todd, we have good buyers here on the forum, send them a picture in a private message or an email. You'll probably get a quicker and more accurate answer to your question, we're just guessing.

Thanks for the info everyone. The CPU boards I have, and the one in rbrooks715's link, are of the dual 400MHz variety. They're the cheapest (then and now) and most common. At this point they're worth more for scrap than for a replacement part, unless you need one for a live environment. I've seen them before on eBay for $5.00 each, NIB, and they never sold.

Bear, the "3000" is the Origin series (3rd generation). 3800 means it's a 5 or more rack system. The 3200 was a single rack, 3400 dual rack, etc. They all have the same parts, just different quantities of each, depending upon how many millions you had available to spend.

I've also updated the top.jpg and bottom.jpg pictures to better and higher resolution ones.

Cool! PTS, it would be fun to tinker with for a while. Like Todd said though, it all depends on what it's made up of inside
