terminology of e scrap

I am hopig some of the experianced members can give a breakdown of the terminology into definitions.
example
CPU =
CRT =

and so on
it would realy help out us new to escrapping

cpu= central processing unit

crt= cathode ray tube

Well I thought about ripping him and telling him that he cant be so freaking lazy that he cant type crt and cpu into a google search to find what they stand for. But... I mellow after having a few. but seriously twisted spend some time on pts's sticky. It helped me a bunch when i first started. And if you take the time to do a little research you will find that most of your questions have already been asked and answered in the past. There is tons of knowledge shared on here but you need to to a little legwork.

i understand that alot of questions have been answered already but what i was looking for was a a simple list of the alphabet soup terms so that anyone could use it as a quick referance. something like a glossary is what i had in mind.

I"ll jump right on that.

I have been actually thinking about putting something along these lines together. Mainly because I am sick of people calling a tower a "CPU". Have not seen it lately, but it does pop up once in awhile.

I've purchased lots of computers from gov't auctions over the last 8 or ten years, and CPU was very often their common term for a tower or desktop, I just let it go. I mean i was just dealing with people in the office there mostly, no techs etc

VRM= the sound my truck makes

that's just a loose screw behind the keyboard

comparable to having a defective airbag when the car doesn't have them
