    Need Advice ASAP!!! Possible motherload

Ok guys a stumbled across a huge lot of servers and other misc old computer equipment at my scrap yard today. The owners brother bought all of this at an auction and sold it as breakage. I can buy it @ 22cents a pound. I didnt jump on it because it is 4000lbs and that is alot of cash for a newb and poorboy like myself. I cant afford to take a loss on this. I know for alot of you guys this is just another day at work but its a big deal for me. Any advice would be appreciated.

If its servers what loss? I would look closely to make sure they haven't had the good stuff taken out. If I had the funds and storage space I would be all over that. Best of luck Mike.

I would do whatever I had to do to get a load like that, at that price. If I lived closer to you I would help you as much as I could. Nice load and good luck.

looks more like net gear to me, not servers. If that's the case, it'll only have a connections board inside ( no CPU or RAM )

It dosn't matter what they are, the steel and low grade boards would more than pay for the load. Anything after that would be all profet. Keep us posted on how things turn out.

Thank you so much guys. I called him back and he said it was no problem if i come back tuesday and cherry pick what i want. These are kinda some squirrely guys so im not 100% confident that ill get there tues and it will all still be there. They close at 5 and i have to work till 5 monday but get off at 4 tuesday. so i can make it there by 420 that puts me in a little rush to go through it all but ill do the best i can. cash isnt really the problem its more about how long my cash is tied up. i looked at a few of the servers or whatever it is that i shot the close up of and the boards come out real easy. They are goldfinger boards and the gold connectors on the outside huge. I also noticed that there are boards on the front of the tower aslo. They appeared to be about the same size as the ones on the back. None of them appeared to be high grade but they all had golfingers. One other thing i noticed was a computer tower sized case with a small 6 inch monitor in it. should i grab that too?

"i noticed was compuiter tower sized cas with a small 6 inch monitor in it" I would just to see what it was and whats in it.

If you can take the time to research this stuff after you get it. It is possible it is worth more for parts or intact. Mike.

What i did notice is that everything looked really old. The tower sized monitor thing i talked about looked like like it was from the 80's. Im really anxious about this whole thing. This will essentially tap my reserves so im hoping for a quick turnaround. If i get this stuff tuesday evening. then i can spend all day wednesday breaking down. Hopefully one of the buyers can help me out.

One quick thing you can do is strip all the steel out and that should get you nearly half the money back. You have a lot there but when I got a van full I set up bins and tossed the material in the bins as I dismanteled them at the rear bumper. That way I didn't handle them much.

    Take pictures, please Mike.

    If it
We're I'd chery pick the servers and pcs with the most cards and components. Look for old desktop pcs as well. Leave the network switches. The 80
S style computer you see with an monitor in it is a "Mac classic" search it up on eBay and see what they're going for. If you have 5 spare minutes pull as many cards ram and boards as you can. Don't bother buying steel for that price, but if you can buy a $3 per pound board for 0.22$ that's where I'd spend my time.

Thats a great idea. Im guessing network switches are the ones with all the phone line ports?

I would take the network switches all day long. Most of the time they are alluminum cases and the board in them is telecom grade. They dont have a cpu but those boards are packed with IC chips all day long. You have to remember your going to get shred price back for about 50 to 70 percent of the load rest will be good money. thats my 2 cents. I would pay 30 cents a pound and still make a killing on a pile like that.
