I picked up an LG tv that when it is plugged in, does absolutely nothing. Any tips on what could be wrong with it? Is this an easy fix? Or should I just scrap it for the parts inside? Thanks for any advice.

start with the power supply board. i've heard of caps popping, and bad boards.

Look for any capacitors that are bulging. Replace them and try again.
I was going to say look at the fuse in the plug, but then I remembered it's a British thing to do that.
I know lying is wrong, but if the elephant man came in now in a blouse with some make up on, and said, "How do I look?" Would you say, bearing in mind he's depressed and has respiratory problems, would you say, "Go and take that blusher off you mis-shapened elephant tranny?" No. You'd say, "You look nice... John""
Well, yes, look for any fuses that may be blown first. I am sure that there is one on the power supply board.
And not a big deal if the fuse is soldered in, it's just a regular fuse with 2 pieces of copper wire added.
Here is a few different examples of bad (leaking-blown) caps. Seems to be a real common problem.
Sometimes they'll fool ya and blow out the bottom, look for liquid leaking around the base of the caps.
Don't know if this will help you or not, might help explain what happens to them,,,

If you enjoy your freedom, thank a vet.
how do i repair that
You have to get caps that are the same or better as far as voltage and microfareds. Also when your dealing with TV's and monitors the caps have to have low noise and hi heat capability.
More good reading and an outlet to buy the parts you might need.
