Question to Escrap buyers about IC chips

PartTimeScrapper compiled a great sticky thread at
    http://www.scrapmetalforum.com/showt...light=ic+chips

The 5th to the last picture has the caption:
"This is a pic of all different kinds of EPROMS/IC CHIPS/FLATBACKS. They all sell for same price."

There are 4 chips around the lower right of this group that are often attached to heat sinks.

    A couple of questions:
    What are these chips called?
Can I get additional confirmation from any buyers that these are valued at IC chip prices? I believe I saw a comment on another thread long ago that these are not of any notable value.

I'm in the process of cleaning a pile of heat sinks and these accumulate pretty quickly. I was wondering if I need to keep these separate or just dump them into my shred pile.

If they are the ones with lond leads and a hole at one end, they are power transistors. Not really ICs and not sure about the PM content.

They are mostly copper base metal. Most of them have a tin coating that can be removed by soaking in HCL. You should be able to incinerate them to remove the black part thus increasing the copper price paid by scrap yard. You will find some that are gold plated also.
We buy electronic scrap, Gold Karat scrap, gold filled, refined gold, silver and many other item's.
