This is like a foreign language ihave boards from printers. motherboard, from towers, and servers and i watched the video on here and mine all look different can u just send a box full of stuff and they sort it out
Some buyers will do that for you, others will penalize you for mixing it all up. The least you can do is if you have cards/memory put them in a little plastic bag to keep them separate. Might use a sheet of computer paper to separate the different types of boards (you know, motherboards, printer boards). That way it would be a little easier for the buyer to separate.
ok will do
You will just have to contact your buyer and see for sure how they want it, we can't speak for them.
I second what Mech said. I had several cpu's that looked very similar to each other, same color with gold square on the underside and the same size = different prices. Its up to your buyer.
Inside the dip switch that Mech provided a photo of are tiny gold plated balls. I don't know if anyone is buying them but break one open and look inside. I am saving mine for now. Mike

A few more pics to share with you guys. Went back to the scrap yard today and he still had his container sitting there full of this stuff so i decided to spend some time and dig through it some more and find ne thing that i had missed the first two times. boy im glad i did. I ended up with twelve more pounds of boards including twelve with alot of gold traces and few that were almost completely coated.
That's great that he lets you pick and choose what you want. Some of the stuff that you are pulling we have not seen before so we can't help with advise, but the pic's are cool,,,
Ya he is real easy to get along with and at 50 cent/lb he lets me pull just boards. I have been setting the clean aluminum to the side for him to. In about on hour today I oulled 12lbs of boards and prob threw to the side about 20-30lbs clean alum for him. win win. Ya even my buyer is having a hard time coming up with prices because this stuff is so obscure. Most of what i got either had a NASA, Lockheed, or State of Alabama marks on them.
State of Alabama eh. I drove down to Montgomery to pick up a load of computers I'd purchased in a Gov't auction. The day I got a chance to go, I left Tennessee well before the offices were opened, but it was just another weekday, and their hours were clearly posted 9-4 m-f. After a 250 mile drive I located the place around 2 PM, still plenty of time, but, the place was closed? This was Fed computers that were stored in an Alabama State warehouse, but why would they be closed on a weekday? I called the Atlanta office and they had no clue either, but after several calls discovered it was "rembering the confederacy day", a legal state holiday. Oh well! Only in Alabama huh ; ) It was too far to drive back and come again, so I got a room and stayed over. The next morning about daylight took a drive by Hank Williams grave, but didn't stop, the sign said open at 7am, and it was about 6, the police station was nearby and they were changing shifts. Woulda liked to walked up and said hello though.
Back to the thread, it might pay you to try finding a way to determine if any of those silver chips could be white gold, they once made them like that in some applications
Great work mike! Gotta love making 6 times your money!!!!

most of them are removable. I read on here to leave them on or your board will be downgraded. I haven t talked to my buyer about it though.
You are right on its up to your buyer but most ic's that are plug-ins I pull out and sell for $5lb which is more than the board they come off of.
Mostly when people talk about removing ic's and it lowering the grade the ic's are the soldered in type. And the ic's make up a lot of the value of those boards. That's what I have gotten out of all the reading I have done here. Mike.
Re: Your purple ceramic and gold plated TRW chips...
Beautiful pictures -- thanks for sharing!
TRW was a pretty major defense contractor (now part of Northrop Grumman) with roles in designing and manufacturing electrical components for satellites, missiles, and numerous other aerospace applications.

It's hard to find much specific about these particular chips, but they look pretty vintage to me.
I would definitely solicit some advice from the folks at CPU forum.

They have a real wealth of knowledge on these matters.
One web link I found requested an email for a price quote.
