So, can anyone help identify what exactly I have in the pictures, and if any of it, is worth more than just scrap?

I really want to get more into electronic recycling, as I am definitely seeing the $$$ in that more than scrap metal anymore.

The dvd rom is basically scrap. Not worth to ship. Pull the 4 screws and pull the board which is mobo grade. Rest into shred. If you want to torture yourself, you can pull the lil motors and laser unit, but its really not worth it between time/money if you weigh. So the board, rest in shred is your best bet.

The power supply board to the left in the cable box is 45c ish at ewasted. Toss up if its really worth to ship those or not. The led board is low grade, shred if ya yard will allow it. The board to the right is medium high...currently 2.25 lb as of current with ewasted.

The rest you should know like motherboard is mobo grade etc. Hope this is what ya ment....

P{.s the add cards are finger cards, Dont have my payout from E-man in front me of, but I think the mobo is 3.70 this week per lb and finger is 4.50 lb.

Yeah, anything that is only worth shred, my yard will allow it. They dont care to much.

Not sure if I have seen your word "mobo" before, so what does that stand for?

Also, which board to the right were you referring to as mobo high?

    Thanks for the help Ozzy.

This one is very similar to the cable boxes I took in a while back and they were $2.75 lb., he called them "mid grade high".

As mentioned in the pics discription, it came from the Verizon Cable Modem box that gives the internet service.

Thought it might be low grade, but glad to hear, it is worth more!

    Thanks!

So, is all CD/DVD rom drives just scrap, or just the ones I have in the pictures? Even if just scrap, good to know they are mobo grade.

There is a market for read/write dvd's also know as burners. They say read write or R/W on them. Part Time Scrapper has been a buyer of them. Mike.

Its up to you, but unless it burns dvds, I dont bother selling ebay. I also look at the date. It the drive is like 2006 and older, it wont sell on fleabay. Or for very little. Problem is older drives dont burn at high speeds GOOD and may have trouble reading certain discs, especially burnt , copy discs. So not a lot of people want them.

As far as parttimescrapper, I think he is gone. Think he overextended his budget and not buying atm. I havnt seen him on here in months and this is what I heard through the grapevine.

Guess delusions of grandeur of saving a couple 1000 lbs of boards to sell direct to refiner did him in. Although this is speculation and I may be completely wrong. No disrespect intended.....

Oh and George, check certain boards on ebay. If you can set it up to test it, by all means do it. Some are worth a ton of money on ebay depending if its a gamer rig or whatever.

Thanks for all the info ozzy. Will do.

Also, cant say whether you are right or wrong regarding parttimescrapper, but I haven't seen him lately either. Hopefully, that is a good thing..meaning he has just gotten real busy

I was at an auction with PTS on Saturday...all is well in the Mile High City, business is booming and just not enough time in the day to spend much of it in front of the computer.

Which buyer did you use if you don't mind me asking? I'm working on a deal for 100 or so of these cable modems right now, and want to know what I'm getting into.

I have used both of them around Cleveland and also Craig at Portland but for the last big sale it was Ewasted. I have not had any problems with any of them but maybe I just got lucky??? The 2 companies over towards Cleveland both were very professional with their dealings. I have nothing bad to say about either one.

I just got a box of 29 of these things. Broke 3 down, sliced my fingers prying them apart. Said screw it and ordered a set of security bits.

Pretty nice little board. I'm not sure where it will grade out, I'm guessing Mobo. Looks like these have a lot more stuff on them then the Verizon ones.
