The small silver ceramic discs in fridge compressor starters & the odd CRT Tv

I can't find the posts I made about this, someone else was wanting to know what it is & what its made of.

This is what it looks like

I have found they are actually a PTC (positive temperature coefficient)

About the chemical thats in it.

1Kg of it is worth US$112

I'm quite happy about this post, after years of wondering what that thing is I have now found out.
It took a bit to search for info, no wonder no one else knew what it was.
Even though all the infos there on the net, there was no connection between the 3 main subjects. **** google

I have found these on low grade boards also,radios,vcr's,tv's,ect.. I have been saving them because i thought they might contain silver, but it looks like they contain titanium instead.

That would not be the same thing as on tv/etc boards. Might look similar but I'm sure it's different.

I think it has something to do with the degaussing cable, it needs a fading AC field to degauss.ever
