When the good times come, They really come!

    Been an amazing week.

Today i went to a CL ad posting of a guy moving his home PC repair business. Ended up paying him $266.00 for a crap ton of stuff.

78 desktops, 15 LCD's, 20+ motherboards with processors, 5 huge box's packed with cd drives, hard drives, cables, power supplies and finger cards and 1 large box with 20 10/100 switch's / routers. Im sure theirs more im forgetting but that was just today.

Wednesday ( Morning ) I have a meeting with a company to take a look at removing an IBM ASA/400. 11 Mainframes 290 hard drives between them and lots of other goodies.

Wednesday ( Afternoon ) i have a corp pickup of 2 pallets of equipment. Guy told me each is shrink wrapped and busting at the seams stacked 6+ feet high. Plus he still has loose items, and all he wants in payment is lunch!

Wednesday ( Evening ) I have a pickup from a lady that is cleaning out her fathers house from him passing away. Said he use to repair them back in the day and has 2-3 pickup truck loads. Sounded like she didnt want to even get paid, just wanted it gone

    Gona be so busy!!!

Funny how it comes in fits and spurts. Sucks when things get slow, but each time the wave comes it seems to get a bit higher each time. Great stuff D, I'm happy for you!

I totally agree, we were slow for like a month. But now this hit. So far we've been working on an emergency plan if thing go south for a long time. We havent brought any of our processors, memory or hard drive boards in yet. We are stock piling them as our "emergency" fund.

I like that idea! Nothing like having an emergency fund that looks like scrap to most people.

CRT's park well in the rain! I feel your pain. We picked up 8 pallets of stuff a couple of weeks ago, I picked up 50+ computers and 20+ laptops from a school the other day, and I got a call this morning to pick up another 85-90 PC's. Now is the time the schools start to clean house! I'm psyched!

Sounds like everybody's staying busy... I do this in addition to my full time job. Pickups have been slow lately, but here's what I have picked up last week along with what I have scheduled for this week...

Friday on lunch picked up 23 G3/G4 power mac towers complete except for hard drives - for $1 each
Today on lunch picked up 10 desktops and 2 dvrs from a security company (took the 3 tv's down to goodwill already) - for free
    Need to arrange:
Pick up remaining G3/G4 power mac towers (approximately 30. person is moving and I noticed a bunch of pc parts and cases in their shed also...) - for $1 each
Meet to pick up "several desktops and other misc computer equipment" for a business about 1.5 hours away from me - they offered to bring it half way - for free
Call local school district tomorrow because they have "a lot of computers to get rid of" - for free

After I accumulate this stuff, I should have well over the 2000lbs min requirement to use a my new buyer that pays $.46/lb for complete computers, so if I throw scrap hard drives in those power macs, they weight 29lbs each for a total of $13.34 per tower without having to do anything. Scrap value of individual components (without hard drive) was about $11.50, so no point in breaking these down.
Needless to say, I'm going to be cleaning out my garage tonight to make room for everything.

x2, browse CL for some free wood and have at it. I work in the construction field and can get free wood whenever I need/want it, so long as I use it for my own stuff. It's nice having those kinds of connections.
