Apple iMac G3 find

Today I was driving through the bulk trash pick-up because it happened to be 4 miles from my house. I had a car full and picked up what I thought was a strange television since I was in a hurry and not paying attention.

Got home to discover that it's this really old mac computer. It's a monitor and computer all built into one. I've never seen anything like this before. I've never been a mac person, but I know there's got to be a collector's market for these little guys.

It looks exactly like this set of pictures and has the same specs listed at the bottom of this page...

I have it turned on and everything works so far. I'm just scratching my head trying to figure it out because it's way older and laid out differently than anything I've ever seen. Does anyone know anything about these? I can't even figure out how to open it to see if it's possible to upgrade anything on it, so I'm just glad it's working.

Hoping someone on here knows about them and can educate me... Thanks!

regular ram should work in it (that's probly about the best simple upgrade you can do on it), not sure how you get them apart. I had a couple of the old blue & white towers, sold the last one on ebay, wish i had kept it

yeah, about that sticker, it says a 233, but the stats at the bottom you said yours was like said a 500

you're right Bear. There's a discrepancy on that page. I just double checked mine, and it's the 233 mhz. I think mine actually might be the "bondi blue" instead of this "blueberry" one too, but not sure. Both blues look quite similar to me! I'm going to keep checking it out. Seems like they go for around $75 on ebay, may throw it on Craigslist at that price and see what happens...

they were used a lot in schools back in the day. see if this link helps. not sure I personally would put much time into it, unless it would be just to play with a vintage piece.

Interesting I got a guy who wants to unload like 50 of them I wonder if they worth scrapping.
Disposal might be difficult especially at goodwill since this isnt just a monitor..

some people just take the tubes in a box. Not sure how much of that would come out as metal, or if your yard would take it with the plastic, or if the tube might stay inside the plastic with everything else removed

Goodwill I use requires the case to be on they just dont care if they are gutted and no idea if my yard takes them or not I got a few with in distance of me so I may have to check it out.
Just never really messed with them. Hope this dont come back to bite me in the butt since I got more then that coming from same guy.

I have one of those in my garage. The guy I bought my computer stand from had that and a printer. Printer was junk and got scrapped. iMacs been hanging out in my garage. Never looked it up and havn't had the ambition to scrap it. I threw it on c/l for best offer and didn't have one interest.

i'd guess the hard drive could be a top piece of interest on it, and easiest to sell. It's probably got the Apple mark, might be worth looking up to see. after that, for better than scrap, i'd guess the motherboard might sell for replacements
