Apple motherboards

I recently got alot of pci slots and old apple motherboards.
I know places by the pc ones but what about the old apple ones like from Macintosh
is there any buyers for those boards?

How old are they? Some of them may have collector value. Otherwise they should be the same as PC motherboards.

I think these are mid 80s to early 90s pretty old I remember these in school when I was a kid and im 38.

Those would be Apple 2E if they are that old. Check Ebay. Otherwise they scrap out the same as PC motherboards!

Sounds to me like it may be worth looking into. If not for collector value, then they may have value as repair parts to a collector. Somewhere around the forum there's a post and link to a vintage computer forum. Might try there.

A guy who got them from a school years that closed pickup load and trailer load of stuff I got for free which I cant complain but man those all in ones are a real pain to open lol.
I think I seen something on 2e a powermac the cpus in these ones are fused its alot of old IBM stuff least thats what the cpu says on it kinda sucks most covers were busted hard to know what they are.
I just know its apple stuff mostly since there was alot of those small all in ones included.

Computers in school? they didn't even havecalculators when I went to school. slide rules were the thing back then, now if get one of those might be worth something on e-bay.

They should have model numbers silk screened on the boards. Most schools had Apple II and later IIgs and should have more then scrap value depending on the model and condition. The boards from a mac II, IIx, IIfx, IIci, IIcx, 840AV, etc are collectable as well.

Its funny 5+ years back when all the schools were dumping IIgs systems nobody wanted them, not they can fetch 100+ each depending on completeness and add-ons.

Anyway any 68K mac chip (Motorolla 68030, 68040) from those boards is generally worth more to collectors then gold scrap.

I have run into a bunch of old apple stuff myself from the local schools. I have dabbled with selling some of the stuff on ebay. But in the end for myself it turned out not to be such a great deal. The time it takes to do the research and post takes away from the actual money I really make. I do this computer scrap thing full time , but if you were just doing it on the side that may be different for you. Then it would not be time allocated to doing something else anyway.

As for the old emacs and old g3 all in ones, they are heavy, heavy, heavy! I have about 200 of these in my shop right now. When you tear into them the actual computer part inside the case is very small. I will weigh one of the boards today or tomorrow, but I know they will not weigh out real heavy. Getting them apart and putting the case back on is a pain. On top of all of that, they do not stack on a pallet worth a flip. I was at one of the large producers in Chicago. They do not even mess with those things, they treat them the same as CRT monitors and just send them off with the CRT's to a CRT de-manufacturer.

I must admit to a bit of a bias, the name of our company is I'ma-PC...LOL

not to mention they have a billion screws you have to take off to get anywhere with them! I had a couple in this load already broke them down. The have a weird ribbon cable connection situation though if I'm thinking about the same thing as you were msearl3244.

They are for sure a pain none are ebay worthy considering how bad they looked but I still have all the boards and 1 more to open up soon as I figure how to deal with the rusted screws!
And msearl3244 I will take them off your hands for you lol Yes julie lots of screws for sure drives me nuts apple stuff is just so backwards to me with the design either they on something or on to something!

It's either rusted screws or everything is connected/held in place by plastic pieces that have that little lip that you have to get past to remove whatever piece it is that you're working on. Some of the load that I'm working on came from a school too. All apples for the most part - lots of plastic, rust and no processor chips to be found. Although, I'm up to my ears in the ic chips!
