It's that paperthin ribbon cable with silver contact ends (I've seen some that were gold too). Best place I know to find one is the one that connects the keyboard on a laptop.
As for value - no idea.
Goes with data cable- .25-.85 depending on buyer. Cut the ends off throw with gold end connectors and bring the rest over to ARCOA. still waiting for you to get in contact with me Jaydee.

All of that goes in my #2 barrel. Even the flat stuff out of printers.
I tried that - they called it low-grade wire at $0.12 rather than #2 insulated at $0.80. And paid my real #2 insulated as low-grade. I separate mine now - or just throw it in with shred.
I throw it with my shred.
New yard I went to today paid out trimmed IDE ribbon as #3 ICW @$.85lb
Printers do not have awm cable, awm cable comes out of computers and it connects the drives and power supply to the mother board. All wire out of printers is #2 insulated.
I cannot provide any tips on selling other than check with your yard. I have been setting this stuff aside for now until I have a quantity then ask the yard I sell wire at. Actual the cable you are refering to is called flexible flat cable, google or wiki it for a definition. The AWM you mentioned I think is a designation from Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and stands for Appliance Wiring Material. Theres a whole bunch of info on the UL website if anyone's really bored or just wanted to know more about the almost wieghtless wire found in many electronics.
As a driver I'm always sober, but my truck is always ready to get loaded
AWM is a classification, not a type of wire. ANY wire that has been aproved for use in an appliance of any type is classified as AWM. Nearest I can tell anyway.

anyone know what this stuff is actually made of? i know the contact points on the end are silver... but i am curious what the core of the wire is made from. google cant help me and this is the closest thread to answering what its made of.
i scrap so many printers that i just trim the ends for silver, but there might be silver throughout like a keyboard cellophane
when my gold/silver/platinum test kit shows up in the mail, i'm going to test it for sure, but i thought i'd raise the question first.
any refiners have an idea?
