There's help all over the forums...... First introduce yourself, then use the search function. You find endless amounts of info(hyperbole aside) The worst part is all the plastic!

Are there components inside that are worth more than just scrap price? I have read a few threads and it seems like there may be gold, copper and aluminum as well as computer boards. Where can you sell the computer type parts?

    First, discharge the capacitors.
Don't touch the selenium drum, touching it it constitutes a 'overdose' of selenium.
Don't get toner on your shin, & don't wash it off with hot water, that solidifys the toner into your skin.

The boards are normally a high quality, you can see the gold, but the connectors are often just tin coated.

Theres a huge amount of plastic & screws, & screws, & screws in modern copiers & maybe a large stepper motor & driver that can be sold on ebay etc.

Hey eesakiwi, I've touched several of these, could elaborate on them ? Maybe start a thread on them? I never heard of not touching them!

First you should decide if your getting into the E-waste game. The few you boards you collect aren't going to bring in alot of money, you need some volume on boards. Unless you find a market for the used components, and sell them as replacement. Board grades will depend on how old the copier is. If it's a network type copier/printer/scanner. The board's seem to be a better grade. You will need to break down and separate. Do re-search on replacement parts. But pretty much follow what everyone is saying. Do some reading. Most people won't hold your hand on this forum, because almost anything you can imagine has prob been talked about. Oh and you better introduce yoruself, some people get bent about that. Good luck man

I use a big hammer, Crack all 4 sides, pull out the wire looms, and whatever boards I can see. MAYBE unscrew w few motors and then toss them in Shred. Each one weighs around 200#'s So not a bad deal if you can get them for free.
