The law wont stop metal thefts at all. The theves will find away around it. Have the checks sent to a house and a day or two later cash it in.

In Louisiana they have been paying us in checks for copper for months now. They used to cash it there for you but starting in August they hold the check for 5 days then mail it to you. I don't really mind it but I don't see how it will help.

Cause you need an ID for the checks and those type of people don't like anyone seeing their ID, or they don't have a bank account to cash their check. But that's what W*llmart is for.

The only bad thing I see is now the yards will lower thiere price on copper to cover the cost of writing all those checks.

Well that just sucks, I do this as side deal, and I usually do bring my copper to yard unless I need cash. I usually just sign the check right there, they have my pic id on file.
