As far as "hold harmless" agreements, they can HELP spread the liability but it wont get you out of being sued. Any decent lawyer will find a way around your "hold harmless" agreement. As far as the agreement to allow you to pick up items, I use the emails. I just went through that with someone today. I ask them to send me an email with what they want me to pick up, especially if they're not going to be there when I pick it up (the stuff is to be outside - I don't go in any house or building). Then I can show the police the email when they ask me what I'm doing there.
