Every Door Direct Mail results day 1

A few months back, RustyDollars enlightened us with a new service called Every Door Direct Mail. It is offered by the USPS and for 14.5 cents a piece, they will deliver your post cards to a target location you choose. Finally after getting my post cards printed and getting the indicia (stamp area) formatted correctly, I dropped off about 950 of them to my local post office yesterday for delivery. Recieved my first call at 2pm today from a gentleman half a mile from my house who asked if I take central air units. I confirmed I did and met him at 5pm for the pickup. While there I actually went to the wrong house (duh) and the gentleman there asked what kind of buisness I was doing. I explained to him and gave him a card. He responded with 4 a/c window units stacked in his garage. Found the right house and picked this monster up. The home owner even helped me load it.

While loading this, his other neighbor came out and asked if I would take a recliner beacuse it had metal inside of it. I explained that I would probably end up paying to have to dump it off. She then offered me 20 bucks to carry the recliner from her living room to the front curb. No problem. Turns out she was the daughter of a dear lady who was my 8th grade social studies teacher. I learned she passed away at 81 years old this past April. She was a nice lady who treated me well in school as I was not the most "studious student". I ended up carrying it out and telling her daughter I owed her mom one, this is on me. Karma folks. I'll keep you posted with the progress.

    Props to RustyDollars!!!!!

Great score! But most of the Trane units I run into are aluminum coils. Keep us posted on day 2.

Thanks for the heads up! Freon, can you tell me what pieces these are for the unit. I asked the owner if the unit was evacuated and he did not know. He just had a new unit installed and this one moved to the side. Thanks.

The round can is a compressor cover, do you have a picture of the access valves? Some of the older ones had screw together fittings on the lines.

If the lines are cut it's evacuated, whether or not it was done correctly is another question...

Most condensing units have isolation valves on them because they are shipped with a full charge of refrigerant in them. Some older condensing units had what they called self piercing line sets and the condensing units were sealed on the ports with brass discs instead of valves,

Lol. Yeah all the mail boxes were on the same side of the street. Made it confusing.

    Evidently something stopped that Trane.

Good haul. Hope many more calls come from your mailer campaign.

Keep us posted! I have been considering doing the same mailer campaign. Curious how many more calls you end up getting. Looks like a great start so far

Beware...The above statement is false. I have picked up units removed from service that still contained a full charge.

Hey, Thirsty, are you sure this came from your EDDM campaign? These pieces are being treated as bulk mail, which means they usually travel much slower than first class mail. Next day arrival would be highly unlikely, although not impossible.

Yep. My inlaws and parents got theirs in the mail the next day. Trust me, my mother was on the horn 20 seconds after the mail came telling me how proud she was. lol. I had these mailed to my zip code only and I only coverered 2 mail routes. I did not have enough postcards for the po boxes which is like 2,000 more. I wanted to test the waters with the residential and business routes first. The upside, I get a few descent calls and have to drive no more than 2 miles for the pickup. The down side, someone uses the postcard to pick their teeth with, lol.

I signed up for EDDM, and they sent me the sales package. I set it aside for a week or two and they even gave me a follow up call from the central post office. I think its time to go ahead and draft and print my first set of cards.

Thirsty, can you PM about your card design? I have my own graphics, but i am interested in some of your copy-write. if not, no harm

Good work! Question - does it have to be post cards or could you do a flyer, staple it and mail it out, do you know?

Scrapette, the package i got had 4 different sizes with different postage prices for each. I thought the post card size would be the most effective, but they have folding sizes for restaurant menus and flyer sizes and all that. its fairly versatile. and the sales package is free... register for it, you'll see. it cant hurt

EDDM program you deliver the mail to the post office yourself and hand it to the person at the counter. They then take it directly to the carrier of that route to be delivered that day or the next. Im a mail man I should know
