    Pallet Of Microwaves

So I never really did the whole appliance thing, and people suddenly are giving me microwaves left and right. I've been out for a couple weeks due to getting my appendix removed, and I have more waiting to be be picked up because of that. I don't get them on a special trip, just whenever I'm picking up computers I get the classic "Oh do you you also take ___" question.

I know a guy that will take them for free, but would a pallet of these be something a scrapper of appliances would jump on? Cords are all cut, but otherwise complete.

i love scrapping microwaves, they are easy to rip, once you've done a few, and its always worth it to take the wires, any easy motors and of course, the large and small transformer you find inside of each one.

my town takes the glass plates for the spinning kind, and the glass door if i take it out right. so its always worth taking apart

I love microwaves! However, I dont ever by any because after factoring in taxes on what I make it isn't worth it to me to buy them.

Im really cpu scrapper but love micros ,you basically got 2 transformers in there and there pretty heavy depending on the age ive seen some as much as 15lbs to 18 lbs and where Im at it pays .25 lb then the rest is shredder its worth the time about 5 mins on each.

You will get one one big transformer and one little transformer on the circuit board, one fan motor thats easy to get the copper from and one small motor that turns the turn table thing, one low grade curcuit board and a hand full of wire (#2 insulated copper). The rest goes in the shred (I never take the door off) Plus the power cord if it's still on.

I just took one apart today and the main transformer is over 20 lbs plus there was a small one on the side along with the one for the fan and there was one more also that was the same style as the fan one. That was the most I'd ever gotten out of a microwave!!

I strip em down to nothing, leave the doors on, and use the carcass as a "bucket"...fill it with screws, small pieces of steel, etc. Easier to fill those and pitch them in the pile than dump out a pail

Newattitued, are you sure that was a microwave? Sounds like a convection oven to me with all those fans and transformers. Convection ovens have larger transformers than microwaves.

The transformer will bring in the $2-$3 range. Another $1 in insulated wire, 50 cents more if the cords still attached, 30 cents of shred. Plus a little bit of aluminum, electric motor and low grade boards. I think that alot of scrappers process microwaves. Ive done about 5 myself. $1 each is a fair price for them. Never done a stainless one but it would bring a little more money?

i love microwaves its my gas money each week to pick other high dollar items but i only get 15-25 a week. so i wish i got more but my break down in this area for them of course this is an average some are cash heavy lol but $3-5 this includes both large and small transformers and wire of copper $1.20-1.50 of steel i clean and sell the plates for 50 cents each magnets i sell for 25 cents each to crafters i know who love em so much. so between $5-8 scrap value. though its nice when i can sell them to college students for ones that still are good just a quick clean and a clist post for $10 and bobs your uncle lol

Be careful with the magnetron! The ceramic discs contain beryllium, which when intact is harmless enough, but when in a dust is a known carcinogen and can cause all kinds of health issues.

Lots of internal parts can be sold for more than scrap value on ebay.

If you have a lot, and can break them down it might be worth your time
