Alvord iron and salvage

He *could* have been talking about 1-800-WOT-FUNK, after all...
If I saw that I would talk to the franchise owner. I would tell him that when he gets a load like that (or anything mostly metal), dump it at my place. It would save him the cost of dumping, and I would get the money for scrapping. Win - win. Just try to downplay as much as possible what you get for scrapping, to keep him from starting to actively scrapping.
I sometimes hang out at the local county recycling center and help cable techinicians to off load in my pickup versus the dumpster. They are just happy that they do not have to throw the scrap up and in the dumpster. Also in large towns cable services are sub-contracted out....look around for those sub-contractors and dumpster dive 2 or 3 times a week ....the subcontractors have to scrap the cable, connectors etc as part of the contract. Lets help those sub-contractors out by having them reduce dumpster fees.
Oh my god, they did it again! Funny, we were parked in almost exactly the same spots. Different crew this time and only HALF the load was pure money they were paying to dump!

If you were to contact them and set up some kind of payment plan at 1/2 of steel price do you think they would do it? Or better have them contact you, and you go to the job site, you get the metal, they take the trash to the dump, you take the cash to the yard, and get paid!
