    Can/Metal Crushers?

Does anyone know if someone preferably in Canada, makes a small scale metal compacter? Im looking for packages 1-3 cubic feet.
Hydraulic operated of course, probably only 220 V im assuming? (id love 110 for portability reasons but thats probably asking too much for wiring)
    Thank You.

those are a little too small scale and time consuming. the cans need to be nicely stacked and arranged.

I am very able to fab and weld something together that is hydraulicly operated, but would rather buy something complete as im on a time crunch.

Im looking for something with a hopper where I can just toss em all in, doens tmatter if theyre half bent, mint, tallboys or regular.

    Thanks for the response

Why wouldn't a Sears trash compactor work?

I've tried a trash compactor. Didn't work too well.

If I had the time and know how, I'd make one of these, then use the aux hydraulics on the skidsteer.

I don't get enough cans to bother so I use the Red Forman method..."Place foot here"

Wow idaho, that is EXACTLY what im looking for. im going to look into some self contained on wheels log splitters to convert into a crusher like this. What would you recommend for pressing strength? 1 ton?

Gonna need a lot more than that. If I recall, the trash compactor I used was rated at 3,000 lbs and it made no significant difference. Maybe the motor was weak and on the way out, I dunno.

I doubt a log splitter even comes in a 1 ton model. Your average log splitter is probably 15 tons and up.

If you design one, let us know how it goes. I have been kicking around the same idea of using a log splitter, then build a steel box to slip over it and contain the cans. Would need to make some kind of plate to slip over the ram.

But like KZBell, I don't get enough cans to justify it. Now I suppose if I network with schools/churches/community organizations and had a fundraiser drive...

id like to do JUST aluminum cans. Specialization is the key to success in almost everything ive find. That way you concentrate your efforts and funds to macimize your efficiency.

idaho,3000lbs is about 1.5 tons (less) so indeed i guess 1ton is not enough. i guess i should be looming for something at a bare minimum of 10tons. founda bunch of used ones locally, few 20s even. I have all the equipment to make what i need, would just need some plans to get ideas from (and make it better ). My friend has a few contracts maintaining plazas, ill talk to him to see if i can get all the cans he gets.

in the video u posted idaho, i dont know if thats 19 pounds of kg, say its 19 pounds..u need roughly 600 cans to make a brick like that, and you get 10$ for it. Guess you need aloooot of cans for a good payday (i dont like going in with anythin less than $300 worth).

now-lets talk business. how shoukd i go about compensating people that collect for me?
say 10% of income-but im guessing i would weigh it upon delivery-record it. say its 10 pounds, thats 5$, and give em 10$ of that (at currenty market value of course), keep records and do a payout every month or so?

i will keep everyone posted as my can venture unfolds. Thank you everyone and god blass

Another thought for powering it would be to use a 12 volt set up. Think of a hydraulic dump trailer. Trailer I use is rated for lifting 7 tons but I bet the ram is rated for much more.

Wouldn't be better to just flaten the cans and bring them to the yard in bags? The yards I use won't buy cans in cubes like that unless they come from another yard. Maybe you can work something out with your yard Idn. Do you realy get that many cans to justify a crusher?
