    I really am messin up!

Over the years I cant even count how many 90% silver quarters I have gotten in change, or found laying around my house or finding on the street. I just learned today that theres 90% silver in these things. I am seeing lots of 40 of these quarters made from 1932-1964 selling for over 150 dollars! $10 face value but sold for $150. I remember when I was younger I had so many sets of these 90% silver quarters. They were mostly from what my dad/grandpa collected but I simple just popped them out of their paper display or whatever it was in to buy candy at the corner store! Wow. Just thinking that If I collected every quarter from 1932 to 1964 that I got as change in the past, that could be thousands of dollars if sold on ebay.

I still see a lot of these in circulation today. I have three of them after looking through my piles of change around the house. I think its time to start looking at the change I get from the stores. A lot of it is the new state quarters not these 90% silver ones but I know i see one of these suckers every other day. Maybe if I try collecting enough I could end up making profit from selling my change. Sorta like I'm just scrapping silver.

It's been a long time but I remember when I used to regularly get Mercury dimes in my change.

About 12 years ago I started going to banks and getting them to give me rolls of half-dollars. I would usually take as many as they had. I would get home, break them open, then pull out on average 3 of the good ones (different years had different silver content). The remaining ones i just took with me to buy gas/groceries/etc. It was a bit of a pain to carry around but just kept them in a sack near me and paid them out as i went. I still have the ones I got back then

I think my town for some reason is loaded with these specific quarters. I went to a small convenience store to get $5 in quarters for the laundry machines and I got 5 of 1961 quarters. Another store i asked for change after my purchase and got 8 quarters and three were old 1942 1953 and 1958. I dont know if ALL 1932-1964 quarters are worth the same, but it sure looks like it. I think i might just start asking stores for change in quarters occasionally xD I think if i asked the bank for rolls of quarters i would get the newer ones.

Ha, I did the same exact thing. But my house was robbed the day after I did it so I don't feel as bad because at least it was me who spent it and not some criminal house robber who probably would have just bought a pack of cigarettes at the store with it.

1964 and back can be sold for melt value but many coins are collectable and can sell for more than scrap value.

Yeah I have 11 silver quarters right now. I know somebody in my family who knows a ton about coins so I can have somebody trusted to look at em before they go to ebay to be sold. I think I'm gonna be looking at every quarter I come across now. If I see anybody with a jar of coins im absolutely gonna ask to dig through it and exchange quarters for quarters.

Don't know if vending operators want to be bothered with it, but they have literally tons of quarters. If they're not sorting it themselves, that is.

I always find 1965 or 1966 quarters... just a year too late lol. I don't know how it all works nor have I looked into it but I have been wondering recently if people hoarding coins has some effect on inflation or something of that nature.

Inflation isnt due to a few citizens hoarding money, but rather because our beloved FED is printing it as fast as possible

But could it be if there was a substantial amount of people hording it? If you add up all the coins that people are collecting, the coins that have been lost one way or another, and the coins that people illegally destroy for the metals in them I would think that it would be a sizable number but this amount is still considered to be in circulation right? Doesn't that effect anything?
I wish I was better at explaining things....
