I hang on to all my receipts and as far as my costs go mainly just gas right now, and a few cheap tools here and there, and any scrap that I can fabricate a new tool out of I will. I am currently in the process of developing a two tools and will be using some scrap from one of my recent loads.

I suppose (OK, I know) I'm pretty lucky in that I have a day job with a company truck where I drive mostly residential neighborhoods all day. Twice a week, my regular route takes me near enough my scrapyard that I could make a run over there. So, I don't pay for gas to the yard... and I don't pay for gas curb-shopping... and my boss is totally cool with me driving his truck in my off hours on my personal business since it's wrapped with company advertising. So I KNOW i have a very, VERY sweet starting spot. Couple that with the fact that I just today landed my first commercial account taking non-working/non-selling electronics from the local thrift resale shop, and things are REALLY looking up for my bottom line right about now!!

I also scrap, resell and haul as my only source of income. As long as I come home with more money in the evening then I left with in the morning I'm happy. My wife works full time, my FIL is retired and I work from home, taking care of the kids(daughter(5yo) and FIL(56yo) .

Wondered where you've been. Sorry to hear about your loss but I have a feeling you won't stop till you get back to where you were.

That didn't happen to be you a saw on the news at the town hall meeting. Ole boy was giving everyone from city counsel, FEMA and Little O an earful.

good luck getting back on your feet. if there is any good news you have already made most of the mistakes learning and in your new start you can become more successful, thats they way i would try to look at it.
