had a business proposal, where to start..?

Had a business proposal from a local computer business. He wants to do a partnership of sorts. Never done anything like this... No idea where to start, or what to start discussing first. I don't want to turn this individual off , or scare him away by going into the subject too fast...? Suggestions?

If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

Go see what he's proposing. Think of ideas you would like to propose. Be confident in what services you can provide. Maybe he simply wants to give you his scrap and wants a portion of the profit. Maybe he wants you to bring him all the used towers you get. Who knows, until you go sit down and talk to him. He might say, I have a warehouse full of computers full from the late 80's and early 90's and if you do all the work in removing them he'll let you have them..... Sure that's rather dreaming but you never know.

depends on what volum he has, but my usual is $4 to $5 perrcomp. or a 40 50 split in your favor to start, you have travel time and fuel expience. I go 60/50 if I have to. never reveal your sell contacts to him. there is a good chance he will ace you out.

It also seems computer shops and Geeks will tend to chery pick the computer parts.you might also try to point out the low price of tin and keep the cases to off set your travel and tool costs.

computer shops and repair people also tend to think backwards on the scrap value of a computer, thinkint the newer a computer is the more valuable when, infact the opposite is true.

my partner brought me a load of servers today. he was so proud of the big old IBM on top of the load because it was a P 3 and not a p 4 (huge gold content) in fact it had a chinese board and 2 slot processors. ggood luck.

If you can afford it, you might try making it a luncheon type of meeting. Get some food in his belly and maybe a brewski or ten (lol). You might get the partnership of a lifetime ... but then again it could be he just wants you to taake all of his CRT's off his hands ....

One can hope. Iv sent him an email explaining who I am, the way I operate and the tools/skills I have. I'll keep you guys posted.

Hope it works out well for you. Do some research on that company, too, if you can. It'll impress him if you can show some knowledge of the company or even offer a solution for a problem he didn't know he had or didn't think you could help with.

Well things have hit a brick wall. He hasn't gotten back to me since our first convo... looks like im Back to square one.. very disappointing.. maybe its a good thing though, anyone who can't even respond to tell you he's not interested anymore, doesn't sound like a responsible person to work with.

I was under the impression from your first post in this thread that you were blowing smoke up our arses, your statements are conflicting. You strike me as someone who needs to be the center of attention.

Whaaaaatttttt.....sounded like someone who had a possible whale on the line and wanted some input from people who have experience in these type of dealings. I found nothing in his posts that he was blowing smoke up anything. The only one that needs to be the center of anything is you by hijacking this thread with a rude and uncalled for comment.

No kidding... Not looking for attention at all, thanks. Was looking for some input from some experianced people, because I'm very new at all this. Sorry if my posts seem confusing, that wasn't the intent. But Thank you to everyone who has givin me some great advice. And to people such as yourself, I think you need to try and be a little more patient and understanding with new forum members. Not everyone's an expert overnight, and I was just looking for some advice, not attention, whatsoever.

Jord don't give up! Sometimes those guys get busy too. You can't ever think he was not interested. He might be thinking like you, "what should I ask for?" Give him another shot next week.

Hey it's the weekend too...people get busy with family stuff. I would try another email or phone call and set something for during the week when he will be at his place of business. That way you can get a full picture of his operation and get a better understanding of what he is looking to do.

What happened to the meeting for Sunday?? If it's still on I'd show up.

We where talking Thursday, the meeting on sunday was tentative. He hasn't gotten back to me as of yet, still going to show up, just not expecting him unless I hear from him tonight/tomorrow.

Now I can see where I may have confused some people, my apologies, didn't include enough information.
