    Aluminium Cans

I live in Australia and have been researching Aluminium cans, I have contacted a number of scrap dealers in my area about the price paid for Used Aluminium Cans and on average the response is 0.70 cents a Kilo. My question is though do these dealers get close to spot price of the London Metal Exchange currently $1.95kg as of 12th November for the cans themselves. The reason I ask is because obviously the dealers would need to make a profit for themselves to crush cans, transport cans, wages ect.

which would then answer my second question, If I was to build or purchase a can densifier and crushed cans mysef and approached Major Metal compaines directly, whether I to would receive the current spot price dated 12th November $1.95?

Look forward to any response i may receive,

    Kind Regards

    Dags

You might. But you would probably need a very large amount. The foundrys that pay market (spot)price usually only deal in Very large amounts, Tons or multiple tons at a time.
