Question Buying in mass and selling

Okay, heres a thing Ive been thinking about, and not quite sure how to. I pass some deals sometime to buy metals in large bulk. Like 5-10 thousand pounds at a time, and I was wondering, how or who do I sell these to a metal facility while cutting out using the scrap yard so to speak, such as selling it to the person who actually buys from the scrap yard. Thanks!

That's not that much in the big picture. You will need a lot more to go mill direct. That wouldn't even fill one semi. Try negotiating a better price at the yard if you can get that amount regularly. Good luck

Start by accumulating 1000 tons and then they might give you a look.

Getting it is only part of the game. You still need to sort, process and transport it.

We ship to some various mills but it took us a long time to get the needed volume. For Al wheels, we do about a trailer a week. For rotors, we also do about a trailer (semi: 40,000 pounds) a week. Any less than that and they typically do not want to bother. The general rule of thumb is the larger the loads you get on a consistent basis, the higher up the processing path you can go. You might be better off talking to your scrap yard etc about giving you a higher price for the larger quantity. Most will do that.

Hmm, i will try doing that, thanks for the hint. Its sometimes i pass deals online for people selling bulk, and if i can by lower end, and sell on the higher end ill be doing a bit better.
