    Lightbulb Convention

It seems every industry and hobby from Sci Fi to wearing a mascot type costume has a convention. Is there any for scrap metal? I saw something for salvage yard owners; I mean for the "grunts". For those that take this serious I would think it would be worth while to learn from those that know. I know that is what this forum is for but to talk with others face to face would be nice.

Would you want to host that? The rumble of old trucks would be deafening, and there wouldn't be a speck of metal left in the city!

I would consider setting up a convention (I have helped set one up before), if there were enough people interested.

Rather than a full blown convention, you might start with a simple "meet and greet". I've been to both types in the snowplowing industry. Each has its advantages. A convention is definitely a lot of work. You'll have equipment vendors set up and need a large lot. Either way, you'll usually have a grill set up for hot dogs and hamburgers.

KrazyK - you and I were typing at the same time.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Sounds like people are interested. I will start doing some looking into it to see if it can be viable.

Warning it will be in Nebraska. I always feel the middle of the country is best and prices are cheaper (in general).

It is something I would strongly consider attending also.

We can all probably talk faster than we type, so we could probably share a lot of information a lot faster.

I could think of no better place to hold a scrapper convention than KrazyK's. Having spent a weekend with him and completing nothing short of a scrap marathon, I can attest that his place is a scrappers playground. The man owns a rigging crane for no other reason than to give kids rides! There is a vehicle to satisfy each and every one of our curiosities and he doesn't stuff 'em with tin or shred, He stuffs 'em with E-scrap!

Sign me up and I now volunteer to be the guy handing out namecards...

Of Course that would be KrazyJ's But I think KrazyK would be a hoot as well.

This Krazy name thing is going to be lots of fun..... But I will be happy to host the convention complete with excavator water skiing and hard drive smashing contest. (sorry PTS)

Hey wait..... I have a much better Idea We could have an alum. cleaning contest... A wire stripping contest... a ferrous loading contest and an E-Scrap prepping contest... I will provide all the material (I have plenty) and I will also provide the prizes (beer and Brauts). and a shiny 486 CPU for the overall grand champion!

    Iwill soooo host this convention!!!
