I dont process many cars, maybe a few a month. Will they let someone like me register? I went to the site and its askin about a yard and how many bays I work out of, etc. Sounds like its for higher volume people. BUT, if I could get registered, id be lookin up core prices on common cars I get called to buy and see what can be sold so I can offer more and actually buy more cars.Quote:

Edit: They mention Car-Part dot com (sorry if im not supposed to list websites) which I tried to sign up for, but got denied. Their reason was "our site and lookup service is reserved only for wrecking yard companies who purchase cars at auction". Was really bummed about that, cause that site is a GREAT way to get your resale car parts out and viewed by repair shops. Our shop uses it ALL the time.
Most times I do 3 - 5 cars a week
Last 3 weeks have been SLOW >> Only 4 cars total
When I started using RAS, I told them I have 3 bays and 4 worker bees
Got my password and have been using it for several years now
They are actually close enough to me that I bring a load down about every 2 months

First time the helper walked away with over $500.00 and didn't want to work the rest of the week
Could they have denied you as you are North of the border and they don't go that far?
I dunno if I wanna fib to them about anything lol but no we have plenty of car-part members up here in canada. A yard 10 mins away lists parts online. And RAS will deal with canada apparently last I checked.
John do they buy alot of stuff?I have never used it before is there good money to be made and if you ship them stuff how long does it take to get paid and such?

we have had Rack&Pinions easy to get pay $75.00 and more but they were only paying $20.00 or less for the hard to get ones
It is all bases on supply and demand, If there is a shortage of a core >> They pay more, If they have a lot >> They pay less or $0.00
I pick and choose alot
As far as how you get paid,
I have always taken the material to them and I leave with a check drawn on BOA that I cash at the BOA as we leave town

ok yeah calipers and computers would be all i would pull just the easy stuff.Have you sold them any starters or alternators?
I bring them all my alternators
I use to be sure I attached the core lookup sheet so I would get the correct amount
But the sort guy was pulling a bunch out of my "junk" pile and paying $10.00, $15.00 or more
So now I just put them all in one box and bring that to the sort guy
He knows them by sight
I believe the most I ever got was $50.00 with several coming in for $35.00 and $25.00
The ones with no core value go into the paid by weight bin and they pay about .20 Cents a pound more then my yard
I just signed up now i have to wait to see if i am approved.That way i can get on there and look at some prices.

There is a wrecking yard by me that has a "$50 all you can carry day" every few months. I signed up with RAS so if i am accepted i Should see which cores are worth $$$ and go pull all I can from that yard.

Cut brake line with big wire cutters
zing out 2 bolts >> Most time with impact
if rear we use the wizzer for the ebrake cable
so basically it is the whole assembly pretty much like you take off when you change your brakes.
