LOL of course you might want to check with city ordinances as well as how cool your neighbors are......If you are in good with your neighbors and keep it under control u might get away with it

I run mine part from home part from shop. And I live in a trailer park lol . Im on the end and have a fence shed and nobody can see my junk. Hope you have good luck.

As mike said you need to check with city and/or county ordenance. Also, if you are in a neighborhood what restrictions do you have. Other thing is taxes - if you claim that room as your workspace. You will also need a permit/license and could have restrictions on it based on location.
If you are like me and only take in 2-3 computers a month then you can treat it as a "hobby".

some places have dual zones such as residential/commercial, but even with that, processing E-waste will likely open up a whole nuther can of worms. Best keep that number under wraps far as possible

I have run into trouble since getting back into scrapping and leaving things outside in my residential area. It is an ordinance to have metal piles and other piles of stuff just lounging about in your yard. Luckily I found a way to beat the system, for now I cover up my metal piles with a tarp, and later next year I will be building an enclosed or fenced in area in my backyard where I will store all of my materials. On top of buying and putting up the fence I will still be using a tarp to cover up what will be back there just in case the city gets nosy again.
Edit to my post: Like Geiser I have a wood stove out in the 3car garage which helps to keep my hands warm if they get cold and feet as well. I normally do all my scrapping outside, but after today's load of 1560lbs of sheet iron I have suddenly 1car garage of free space, and can work on my other non-ferrous metals and E-scrap.

I would just be sensible about what you do. If you have to build a shed or some structure to work in if you have no basement. I work out of my basement for now and regularly bring in and out 10 or more computers one night and a truck load of shred every Saturday. My yard and home are well kept on the exterior, but the basement is a disaster. My 5' x 20' coal cellar workshop is the epitome of well used small space.
My neighbors see what I am doing but have little idea of the scale. They offer me there junk and I gladly accept.
