It's kind of like that riddle, if I gave you a penny at the beginning of the month and doubled it everyday until the end of the month, how much money would you have? You would have over 5 million dollars. Those last 2 years, when you are finally well established is when the serious money could come in.
Thanks for the encouragement I have been working on the PLAN all day. I will post a good update tomorrow.

I am not giving it up cold turkey. I am just going to be more selective about what I am taking on. This should give me the time to focus a greater amount of attention on the new venture. The number one thing driving me in this direction is the degree in which I can grow it.

If i'm locked up in my garage then my truck sits idle while someone else gets the goods. At some point you have to step back and see what you want to be doing. Obviously your plan includes hiring labor or getting a partner (or investor). The sooner you figure out what role you want to concentrate on the better. Personally I like driving around in my truck and knocking on doors/handing out cards to businesses. But to make the million $ mark you have to have help (and pay for it somehow!).
I have gone the partner route several times. Never, ever, ever, neverever, again. I do a lot with real estate investments and have access to some funding. I just need to put something together and ensure their ROI will be right. This is going to take some doing on my part but I have several very solid ideas.

There is a copper wire recycler in PA that is a member of the forum. I think he can beat almost anyones prices. Might be a good friend for you, and somewhere to sell some of your scrap.

I am still working with real estate investors. I have two properties and will continue to work to acquire new rentals and flips. Something everyone should look into that has a little hustle in the is Real Estate Wholesaling. If anyone is interested just reply and I will start a new thread. The thing about REI is that the is passive income. Which comes snow, rain, or if I just don't get out of bed!

Yes his name is Jim from High Voltage. Any scrapper that is serious about doing this as a business should contact him. One part of my plan is to contact electricians, institutional customers, scrap yards, and try to create relationships in order to purchase their wire. After talking to Jim I see a real opportunity to create a good profit by simply brokering the wire, buy it, ship it, make deposits. The margin is small but a small margin on large volume can still pay the bills.

I agree you can run into some interesting characters to say the least. PM me your contact information. I get calls from time to time out your way. When they are small it is hard to schedule a pick up. I'll send it your way if you want it.

I created this flyer to hand out in public places, it has tear off's along the bottom with my contact information.

This is the front of a tri-fold brochure.

This is the rear of the tri-fold brochure.

This is another flyer I did for door, hand outs whatever.

I was having trouble figuring out how to get the documents to go into the post. I did a printscreen and saved as a picture then uploaded to Phototbucket. That is why they look the way the do. So what do you guys think. If anyone of guys needs something like this for you business just let me know. Or you guys can go to Microsoft and download templates for just about anything you could ever want.

Here is the link: Templates - Presentations, Spreadsheets, Documents, Calendars & More - Office.com

You can also download a trial copy of Office 365 there if you need it because you do not have Microsoft Office.

I looked on ebay and they seem to bring in anywhere from $3.00 to $80.00 depending on what type they are.

The only problem I see is many are going unsold. I also believe it is against building code to reuse a breaker, I dont know I just think I ran into the question with one of my electricians once.

    Monday Update 11-26-2012

As usual the day did not go as planned but still worked out good.

Went to the yard to drop off some tin, wire, alum., and etc. $44.00

From there we went to scout for a retail location. Two good prospects waiting for the property manager to get back in touch. The location is on major route and I may have to run electric and put a trailer to work out of. Not so great but doable.

Went to one of my pick ups to grab a little but of stuff.

    21 lbs. Motherboards ($14.00 ???)
    22 lbs. Finger Cards ($93.45)
    0.7 lbs mixed processors ($82.50)
    --------------------------------------------------
    Cost $58.50 ($191.45)

    Total Profit $132.95

The best part of the day was when I talked to a business associate who has a 100,000 Square Foot wharehouse. After speaking with him for a little while we came up with a plan that works for both of us.

I can use the space I need for now.

    The lease will be incremental.

3 months at a couple hundred and increasing slowly as I do better. This will allow me to grow into the space and begin buying e-waste!

Spoke with a potential investor. Working out the details but plan on sending him the business plan and meeting with him after Christmas.

Going out later to kinkos to get the printing done. At home having fried chicken.
