I read everyday about this, right now I am working my way through "The Handbook of Extractive Metallurgy" Out of print, you cannot buy it anywhere but it's probably the single most authoritative volume set of books on extractive metallurgy in the world. Over 280 professionals have contributed and it was edited by Habashi. I have been fortunate enough to have had email conversations with him. He's like the rock start of extractive metallurgy.
